This Only Do I Seek; That I May Dwell In The House Of The Lord All The Days Of My Life, To Gaze on The Beuty Of The Lord And Seek Him In His Temple

It's All About Jesus

PSALM 27:4

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

David, by the “house of the Lord” and to inquire in His “temple”, may have been referring to the Tabernacle in Gibeon, to the sanctuary he had built to house the Ark of the Covenant, or to the Temple that Solomon his son was to build.

It is most likely that David had the Temple in mind, for he had made many plans for it (see 1 CHRONICLES 22).

But I am convinced that David was referring to God’s presence and His Kingdom.

His greatest desire was to live in God’s presence all the days of his life and the same should be true for all believers today.

But sadly this is not true for all who claim to be Christians. Many limit their time with God to Church attendance once a week in the belief that is enough.

But the sad truth is, they never get to know Him at all.

Jesus said, ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My beloved, the sick may be healed by the laying of your hands; you may prophecy or even cast out demons in Jesus name; God can and does use both the righteous and evil for His plans and purposes, but if you don’t make time to know Him, to build a relationship with Christ today, you may be turned away from the Kingdom of God tomorrow; He may refuse to know you, declaring, “depart from Me you who practice lawlessness.”

It’s all or nothing-their is no place for lukewarm (REVELATION 3:15-16).

My brethren, it is all about relationship with Jesus Christ; without relationship with Him, it’s impossible to know Him or believe on Him; surely, it makes sense to know the judge who will determine your eternal future.

What do you desire? What is most important to you, your career, your social life, or maybe your money or material things?

Jesus said, “But first seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (MATHEW 6:33).

That is not to say that God will reward you with every worldly desire, the gain of living our daily lives in the presence of God is by far greater than that.

What comes from spending one’s time in God’s presence and walking by the leading of the Holy Spirit, is the fruits of the Spirit (GALATIANS 5:16-26)-righteous living, wisdom, joy and contentment that cannot be matched by worldly things, and produces the peace of God that surpasses all understanding that will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus (PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7).

I tell you the truth, when one has peace of mind, he has everything.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus way works; but one has to put in to practice all that is in God’s Word-He must submit to the will of God. He is the truth-the only truth that can be relied on, and He is the only way to our Father in heaven.

Only He can get you off of that ring road that takes you round and round to the same old troubles; poverty, broken relationships, health issues, addiction, rage, sadness, despair, depression, and so on. Only Jesus can deliver you from the evil one.

“Oh taste and see how the Lord is good;

May this Psalm of David’s be our encouragement, prayer, and testimony today.

For, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!“

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭1‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
