There Is No Greater Love Than To Lay Down One's Life For One's Friends

God So Loved The World

JOHN 15:13

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My beloved, no one can even start to imagine the love of God in Christ, who came into this world to start the work of building His church, and then to be the sacrifice that justifies life for all who believe on Him.

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

He did not need to come to save us, but He chose to, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.””

‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Many believe that good people shall not perish because God’s grace is enough.

And while it’s true, that we all need God’s grace, for we are all sinners. But grace does not and cannot override justice, if it did, then Christ would of had no reason to suffer the pain and humiliation of the cross.

Without Christ, not one could be saved, for sin justifies death.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

‭‭I John‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paul tells us, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My beloved, good works cannot save anyone, it is too late for that.

Furthermore, neither money, nor status, nor any other person, or god, or process, except faith in Jesus Christ, can take us into the kingdom of God. For Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus Christ, out of love for His people, made a way where there was no way.

But “Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus way is the only way that justly deals with the problem of sin and brings freedom, healing, peace, and joy in the chaos of this ever darkening world.

But not everyone shall be saved, for Jesus is soon to return to bring final judgment upon the earth “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Far better that we bend the knee by choice, rather than when our time has expired.

“Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

‭‭II Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

All glory to God forever and ever! Amen
