2 CORINTHIANS 3:12-18
“Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
”II Corinthians 3:12-18 NKJV

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments, his face shone from being in God’s presence (EXODUS 34:29:35).
To prevent the people from being filled with fear by the brightness of his face, and from seeing the radiance fade away, he had to put a veil over his face.
This vail is an illustration of the fading of the Old Testament system and the veiling of the people’s minds because of their pride, hardened hearts, and refusal to repent.
The veil kept them and unbelievers today from understanding the scriptures.
When a person turns to God in repentance, the veil is removed, giving him or her the gift of eternal life and freedom from the bondage of sin.
Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
John 8:34-36 NKJV
Once the veil is removed, the believer will become a reflection of the glory of Christ, being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Many have tried to be saved by keeping the Old Testament Law, and were very quickly tied up with rules and ceremonies they simply could not keep.
The truth is, it’s too late for keeping the Law; we humans have already sinned and justice must be served.
Many believe that God will not condemn nice people, that grace alone is enough. But grace does not overrule justice and the Law must be satisfied. But however, Jesus blood satisfies the Law and legally opens the door to grace.
Therefore, through the Holy Spirit, God has given us freedom from the condemnation of sin (ROMANS 8:1) by sacrificing His life-taking our place on a cross and justifying our new life in Christ.
Furthermore, when we put our trust in Christ, He removes the heavy burden of trying to please Him through works and religious ceremonies, along with our guilt for failing to do so.
By accepting Christ in repentance, we are forgiven of all sin and are free to live for Him.
He piece by piece removes the veil and gives us understanding.
We can acquire knowledge by simple study, but understanding and revelation comes only from the Lord, for without Christ, our minds were blinded.
But as we grow in Christ, the veil is taken away and a transformation begins, that we come to understand what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God (ROMANS 12:1-2).
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
II Corinthians 3:18 NKJV
This is not just Good News, it is amazingly wonderful Good News.
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
