Here John tells us, He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; not might or will, but “has”everlasting life. It is s a done thing.
To receive this wonderful gift is to submit to and join with God’s life, which is by nature eternal.
Thus, everlasting life begins in the very moment of spiritual rebirth.
John, throughout this gospel has been demonstrating that Jesus is the only true begotten Son of God, and He has set before us the greatest and most important decision in life. That decision is to choose between eternal life or eternal death.
We are individually responsible to decide today whom we will obey (JOSHUA 24:15).
God’s judgement refers to His final rejection of those who reject Him.
Putting off the choice is to choose not to follow Christ; that indecision could be a fatal decision.
There is no common ground between life and death; indecision will result in death because ““No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
Matthew 6:24 NKJV
One can not buy or earn salvation, your money and good deeds will not save you. Being “nice” will not save anyone .
Neither your pastor or church, or indeed any religious organisation, or works, deeds, or person dead or alive can save you. Only Jesus can do that (JOHN 14:6).
He is the Alfa and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the One who is and who was and is to come, the Almighty (REVELATION 1:8).
He is the ultimate authority over all things and your eternal future is in His hands.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6 NKJV
Only through Christ alone, by believing in Him can anyone be saved.
Many believe that by God’s grace all the “nice "people of this world will be saved, but the truth is, grace does not overrule justice, if it did, their would of been no reason for Christ to die and pay our debt of sin.
It is His spilled blood that justifies our new life in Christ.
The Good News is, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9 NKJV.
If one really believes on Jesus, He will mould and shape him into the likeness of Christ (ISAIAH 64:8). He will transform him by the renewing of his mind, that he would come to understand what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (ROMANS 12:1-2).
But the truth is, no one can truly believe in Jesus without knowing Him, and the only way to know Him is through relationship with Him.
My beloved, that comes only from spending quality time with Him in conversation.
That can only be done privately on your knees in the presence of God, not just voicing one’s own words, but by listening attentively to what the Lord has to say.
To know Him well one must hear His voice, whether audibly, or by dreams, visions, His Word, or by the gut feeling that comes from the holy Spirit within, or any other way that God chooses to communicate.
My beloved, does it not make sense to know the judge who is soon to come and decide your eternal future?
When it comes to your eternal future, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know, and the truth is, the only way to our Father in heaven is through Jesus Christ (JOHN 14:6).
If you haven’t already give yourself away to the Lord Jesus Christ, for He, the Almighty (REVELATION 1:8), took it upon Himself to pay the debt of the the world with His own blood, and in doing so, paid a very high price for you, that you would have life, and that you may have it more abundantly (JOHN 10:10).
My beloved, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
John 15:13 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
