Jesus Christ The Good Shepherd
PSALM 23:1-6
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

When we allow Jesus the good shepherd (JOHN 10:11) to lead us and guide us, we shall have peace and contentment. But when we choose to go our own way which is sin, we can expect to not only lose our peace, but for everything to come crashing down around us.
My brethren, we cannot blame God for the environment we create for ourselves when we refuse to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Our good shepherd knows the green meadows and peaceful streams that will restore our souls and bring peace, joy, and contentment into our lives.
But we can only reach these places by following and trusting God in obedience.
When we submit to God’s ways, even as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear no evil; our peace shall be upon us always, for God is with us.
In today’s world, many put their trust in money, status, and science, but they are not making any ground in defeating the issues of today’s world, such as debt, health issues, lawlessness, poverty, sexual immorality and all kind of sinful behaviour.
Poverty is growing as our world financial systems are collapsing, war is looming over the nations, and many people are struggling with serious health issues, both physical and mental. Anxiety/ depression and suicide is at an all time high as is cancers, diabetes, heart disease, and so much more.
Lawlessness is growing day by day, and sexual immorality is being taught and encouraged even to our children in schools.
Our governments and world leaders have forgotten that they are supposed to stand upon the shoulders of Christ Jesus, they have forgotten that God the basic moral standards of God and that He alone is the Most High.
They do not have the answers that would deal with any of the world issues and even if they did, they cannot defeat death; only Jesus can do that, He was risen (LUKE 24:6-7).
But it is encouraging to know that God is in control. “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7 NKJV
The Lord is our shepherd and we shall want for nothing. He shall lie us down in green pastures and lead us beside still waters rather than the stormy seas of today’s world. He shall restore our souls and lead us in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.
“He restores my soul”, our mind, will, and emotions; removing the anxieties and doubts that the devil whispers into us that drags us down in torment, anguish, misery, distress, and negative thoughts of gloom and doom. He leads and empowers us to take every thought captive and bring them to the obedience of Christ (2 CORINTHIANS 10:5). And even as we walk through the the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear no evil nor lose our peace. His rod and staff shall comfort us in these challenging days. Furthermore, He shall prepare a table for us in the presence of our enemies and anoint our heads with oil; Our cup (provision) runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives; And we shall live in the house of the Lord forever.

My brethren, even in the gloom and doom of today’s world, don’t lose hope. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
