In Peace I Will Lie Down And Sleep, For you Alone, Lord, Make Me Dwell In Safety

Safe In His Hands

PSALM 4:7-8
“You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭4:7-8‬ ‭NKJV‬

David could have had sleepless nights when his son Absalom rebelled and gathered an army to kill him; but even in such a crisis, his heart had gladness, and he slept peacefully even during the rebellion, for he knew he would be safe and victorious through Christ (3:7-8).
The truth is, the assurance of answered prayer brings peace, but one must believe to receive.
I encourage you that like David, you need not lose sleep over whatever crisis you are facing.
God is in control, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
That’s not some things, that’s all things!
If you are laying awake at night worrying about circumstance and things you cannot change, pour out your heart to God, thank Him that He is in control and believe; it is then that you shall be able to sleep in the knowledge that the victory comes from the Lord, and whatever happens, God will use it for your good.
But their are spirits of insomnia, slumber, and heaviness, which can cause people to sleep when they should be awake, and keep them awake when supposed to be sleeping.
If you are continuously suffering from sleepless nights or feel heavy and tired during the day without any obvious reason, it is likely to be because you are demonised.
These particular group of demons will cause you to feel heavy when in fellowship with other believers, or when praying, or in worship.
Their ultimate purpose is to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (JOHN 10:10) by keeping one separated from God.
But the Good News is, we believers do not have to tolerate these devils, for these demons are subject to us Spirit filled believers in Jesus name (LUKE 10:17, and by the authority of Jesus Christ, we can command them to leave and cast them out.
They enter through sin, even the sin of our ancestors, bringing generational curses upon us from conception (ROMANS 5:12).
Self deliverance isn’t by any means easy, one has to find the sin or door by which they came in, which may of been through the sins of one’s descendants.
Like evicting squatters, one must tick all the boxes before the Judge and He will issue an eviction notice. One must repent of the sin that let them in, taking away the demons right of possession.
Even fear is a door of entry for the devil. That is why the Bible tells us some 365 times, “do not fear or be anxious.”
Psalm 143 is one of David’s prayers of deliverance. Speak it over yourself as your prayer and command the demons come out in Jesus name.
It may be difficult to self deliver, so it makes sense to visit a “Born Again” church, operating in the healing and deliverance ministry of Christ (EPHESIANS 4:11).
Once delivered, one must stay close to God or they will return. Sin will let the devil back in.
When one receives the gift of the Holy Spirit (JOHN 14:15-18), Gods Spirit joins with his spirit and he saved (EPHESIANS 1:14).
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
The Holy Spirit resides within our spirit and manifests through our flesh to walk and talk by His leading.
When one falls back into sin, He retreats silently back into his spirit and it feels like God has left us, like we are in the wilderness.
But He never leaves us, (JOHN 14:18), but rather brings conviction to repentance and change from within.
Jesus said, ““When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭43‬-‭45‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
These unclean spirits and demons are very real, and very wicked. If allowed they will bring total misery to the lives of believers and manipulate them and use them for their own wicked purposes.
They are the source of all sickness, but by the stripes of Jesus Christ, we are healed (ISAIAH 53:1-5).
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
To rebuke the devil is to verbally call the demons out and command them to leave, then they shall flee from you.
My beloved, whatever your struggle, give it to God, for He goes before you to make a way and is with you through it all DEUTERONOMY 31:8).
Paul tells us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Put your trust in God; call out to Him in times of distress with David’s prayer and believe.
Like David, start by testifying God and speak over yourself the outcome you desire and believe on it (O God of my righteousness You have relieved me in my distress (PSALM 4:1).
In his distress David calls out to God and to we the people.
“Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him. Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the Lord. There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
