The Grass Withers And The Flower Fades, But The Word Of The Lord Remains Forever

1 PETER 1:22-25
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
”‭‭I Peter‬ ‭1:22-25‬ ‭NKJV‬

To sincerely love is more than a simple feeling. It involves an action-it involves selfless giving.
A selfish person can not truly love. But, God’s love and forgiveness gives us the freedom to take our eyes of ourselves and focus on the needs of others.
Jesus, by sacrificing His own life, displayed His real unconditional love for us all. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Now we are able, by following the example of Christ, to sacrificially love others by reaching out and helping people in need with no expectation of anything in return.
My beloved, “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Peter, quoting from Isaiah 40:6-8, reminds believers that everything in this life is temporary. Money, possessions, accomplishments, and even people will eventually, as does grass, fade away and disappear. Only God’s love, His will, and Word are permanent.
We must stop grasping the temporary things of this world and focus our minds on the eternal.
Every dream car or home starts to deteriorate from the moment it was made. Indeed, every scrap car in the breaker’s yard started it’s life as someone’s dream and has run its temporary life and is now fading away.
But God’s Word and His promises, including the life He offers us, is not only wonderful beyond our wildest dreams, but is also eternal.
The joy and peace that comes from money and the material things of this world are very much temporary, and the truth is, without Christ in your life, that is all you can ever have; furthermore, you can be certain that they, just like everything else of this world, will eventually fade away.
But the joy and peace that comes from Christ surpasses all understanding and will guard your hearts and minds through Christ (PHILIPPIANS 4:7), furthermore is everlasting.
Time spent with Christ, learning about Him and getting to know Him more is investing into your eternal future.
Whatever is going on in your life, however good or difficult, make time for Jesus; He is the ultimate judge who is coming to decide your eternal future.
But “”the ultimate promise of salvation to all those in Christ is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.””
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All you need do is believe.
Despite your sin, Jesus has made a way for you where there was no way. No one can be saved by works, religious acts, or by keeping the Law, it is too late for that, for all except Christ has sinned.
But Christ with His own blood, fulfilled the Law and all the religious acts and justified life everlasting for all who believe on Him.
For just as Christ died on a cross and was then on the third day risen, His people died to the power of sin because of what He done, and are born again into the resurrection life of Jesus Christ.
“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:8-13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
