PROVERBS 20:7-9
“The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him. A king who sits on the throne of judgment Scatters all evil with his eyes. Who can say, “I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin”?

Not one of us is without sin, and furthermore, as soon as we confess our sin and repent, more sinful thoughts creep back into our hearts and minds.
The truth is, we inherited sin, and we can't remove it from ourselves. We all need the ongoing moment by moment cleansing of our Saviour.
Thank God He is faithful to forgive by His mercy when we ask for it.
We believers must make confession and repentance a regular part of our prayers. We must rely on God moment by moment for the cleansing we need.
We are all sinners, but He is merciful to forgives us who forgive others (MATHEW 6:14).
But my brethren, that doesn't mean we can continue to do the same sinful things over and over. Repentance is not just about being sorry, we must be willing to change, we need to meet God half way and make every effort to turn away from sin toward Him.
Turning from sin is not an easy thing to do, often driven by the evil forces around us and within; we cannot achieve this in our own strength; will power is not enough, and deliverance is often needed to break the chains of the devil.
We find ourselves repeatedly doing what we hate, and failing to do that what we ought.
“For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.”
Romans 7:14-25 NKJV
My beloved, if we are to become right with God, we must remove the sin living within, and close the doors that let them in.
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
James 4:7-10 NKJV
Having expelled the demonic within, we must ask God to fill every room with His holy Spirit and His furnishings, and continually take in God’s word, praying and listening , and praising Him with a thankful heart.
My brethren, we must cooperate with God, putting into practice all we have learned and received from Him, everything we hear from Him and saw Jesus doing (PHILIPPIANS 4:9).
My beloved, be mindful that “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.””
Matthew 12:43-45 NKJV
Jesus is the example to follow and as the Holy Spirit works within us, we shall become more Christ like day by day, in our character, attitudes, and responses, being transformed into a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new(2 CORINTHIANS 5:17), being a good example for our children to follow, that they too live godly lives, and truly repent of their sins and continue the good work of the LORD.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
