Fear The Lord

PSALM 34:8-11
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34:8-11‬ ‭NKJV‬

"Taste and see" doesn't mean, Check out God's credentials," but rather, it's an invitation to "try this with the statement,, “I know you will like it."
When you take your first steps of obedience in following Christ, you will discover just how loving and kind our God really is, you will taste the joy of living in Christ and see for yourself that the Lord is good .
As we walk with God in our Christian life, our knowledge of God is partial and incomplete, but as we put our trust in Him daily and take in His Word, we experience how awesome He really is.
As we study His Word, we gain knowledge, but understanding and revelation can only come from God.
But the more understanding He reveals to us, the more we appreciate His unconditional love for each of us and what He has done. Furthermore, we come to realise that He wants a personal relationship with us all-He wants no one to perish, but for all to come to repentance (2 PETER 3:9).
His Word is more than a simple book written by an author, for “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My beloved, “Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
He does not lie, cheat, or change; He cannot, for He is God, and we can confidently stand firmly on His promises.
But, what does it mean to fear the Lord?
Fearing the Lord means to show Him deep respect, reverence, and honor.
We demonstrate this attitude by humility and genuine worship. Abraham, Moses, and the Israelites, showed this kind of fear of our Lord and Saviour (GENESIS 17:2-4; EXODUS 3:5-6; EXODUS 19:16-24)
It is easy to question David's statement because so often we don’t get everything we desire. But the truth is, God does not promise His people everything they want, but rather, that which God sees as good-there every need.
The truth is, our godly prayers will be answered, but not always how we hope or expect, but always for our long-term good, and for the glory of God.
He knows our needs far better than we do; what is good for us and what is damaging.
He see's not just the big picture, but the whole picture, so you must trust God, even when it seems like He is taking you the wrong way or has abandoned you; when things seem to be getting worse instead of better, in poverty and hardship.
The truth is, God is faithful to provide-to make an honest way for you to live.
“”Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:31-34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
David in this Psalm, is telling us, if you have God, you have all you need. But if you feel that something is lacking, ask yourself, is this really a need? Is this really good for me? Is this the best time for me to have what I desire?
Even if your answer is yes to all three questions, God may allow you to go without to help you grow more dependent on Him, or that you have other needs not known to you that are more important than your immediate desires, needs that you don't even understand.
Or maybe, it is simply a question of timing-God’s timing is always perfect.
His timing builds our faith which, by the way, produces patience. “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My brethren, not everything you want is good for you. “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭6:6-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
His way is the only way that works; His way gives us peace, joy, and leads us to life everlasting.
He is the truth and the life that sets you free from the wages of sin. No other person or action or object or sum of money can pay your debt of sin and justify eternal life.
God is a loving God, and His grace is sufficient, but love and grace does not wipe away justice. The debt must be paid and applied to your account, otherwise there would of been be no reason for Jesus to die for you on a cross.
Jesus words are the truth, and it is the truth that shall set you free from the bondage of the devil, and freedom from the curse if sin.
“Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?” Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬-‭36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Jesus said, “The only way to our Father in heaven is through Me (Jesus).”
He is the ultimate sacrifice and coming judge who will decide your eternal future. It is He who applies His blood to your account when you believe on Him. He is the only way to the Father and life everlasting.
“He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬
If you haven’t already, give yourself to Christ today, for tomorrow may well be too late.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
