JOSHUA 1:6-8
“Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Worldly opinion is that prosperity and success comes from having power, influential contacts, and a relentless desire to get ahead.
However, contrary to that, the strategy that God taught Joshua and we believers today goes against such criteria.
He told Joshua in order to succeed, he must be strong and very courageous that he may follow the Law of Moses exactly, not wandering to the right or the left of it.
It’s not always easy to stand firm on God’s Law, especially when it contradicts worldly laws that could land one in trouble or even in prison.
He said learn the Law, do not let it depart from your lips, meditate on it day and night. That is to say, read, take in, and study God’s Word daily; the Bible is not only God’s book of instruction, taking it in brings real change to our character and attitudes as it actively works from within; “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
God’s Word is more than a book, it is a representation of the living God of all the universe. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-5 NKJV
We study to get knowledge, but only God can give us true understanding and revelation which is hidden from unbelievers. “Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
II Corinthians 3:16-18 NKJV
Isaiah tells us, “Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:6-11 NKJV
To be successful, follow the instructions that God gave Joshua; your success does not rely on your abilities, or the people you know, but rather on your faith and God’s promises.
He is God and cannot lie, His Word always brings about the purpose of that which He sent it and does not return to Him void.
Trust Him, and He will bring you success and prosperity; maybe not in ways you crave or to worldly standards, but most importantly, in your calling achieving what God has given you to do.
Jesus has not promised worldly riches in return for service; His promise is to provide all your needs; not your wants or cravings.
No amount of money can buy peace of mind; but God’s peace is free and surpasses all understanding and guards your heart and mind through Christ (PHILIPPIANS 4:7).
My brethren, everything of this world is temporary and God’s Word tells us not to conform to it (ROMANS 12:1-2).
You don’t need to be a millionaire, or own a big house, or drive a posh car to be a success in God’s eyes; these things can quickly become idles and separate you from God. Furthermore, they are temporary, and whilst it feels good to have the best car in the street, it’s not necessary and you cannot take anything with you from this life into the next.
“As he came from his mother’s womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away in his hand. And this also is a severe evil— Just exactly as he came, so shall he go. And what profit has he who has labored for the wind?”
Ecclesiastes 5:15-16 NKJV
Therefore my beloved, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.””
II Corinthians 6:14-18 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
