In these times of struggle, when every nation is facing financial collapse; the cost of fuel is escalating, interest rates are rising, food prices are going up, and families are having to choose whether to put food on the table or pay their mortgage or rent. The truth, the supermarket shelves may well become empty too. But I encourage you that God is in control, and the truth is, Gods people will not be without necessary provision.
“For my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
He is faithful to meet our every need.
However, we must remember the difference between what we want, like, and what we need. God will not bless you with anything that is damaging to you. He won’t give you money that will fill your heart with pride and selfishness.
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
I Timothy 6:6-10 NKJV
We may not get everything we want, but by trusting in God, our appetites can change from craving everything, to accepting as Paul did, God’s provision and power to live for Him (PHILIPPIANS 4:12-13).
“”Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV
God does not promise riches here on this earth; in fact He warns us that persecution, and all kinds of trials and challenges will come our way (JAMES 1:2-4), but as we live for Christ, our every need will be met; meanwhile, the blessings are piling up in heaven.
Jesus said, ““Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV
My beloved, there’s no such thing as a prosperity gospel; if God has blessed you with abundance, it is because He wants to use you to bless others. The truth is, every time you bless those in need, you open the door for God to bless you more; not so that you can have an exotic life style, the best home or car, but that you can give more to those in need and fund Gods work.
But in all things be wise, for a fool and his money are quickly parted. Give not from your emotions, or to receive something in return, but rather, by the leading of the Holy Spirit in you.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
