Love Is Patient, Love Is Kind, Love Does Not Envy, Is Not Boastful, Or Arrogant

The Greatest Gift Is Love

1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Much of society today confuses love with lust. God’s love, rather than being directed inwardly toward ourselves, is directed outward toward others. It is totally unconditional and selfless.
This kind of love goes against our natural inclinations; this kind of love comes from God alone. We love Him because He first loved us (1 JOHN 4:19).
We can only achieve this kind of love by asking God to help us set aside our own natural desires, so that we can love without expectation of something in return. Thus, the more Christ-like we become, the more we will be able to put others first as did Christ.
Love is the very foundation of God’s way of life; to love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind is the first and greatest of all commandment And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the prophets (MATHEW 22:36-40).
Jesus said: ““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:43-48‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My brethren, we believers must be seen as different; outward love should be the very foundation of our way of life.
To love others is a choice; a choice to care about others as we care about ourselves; to see theirs troubles as important as our own.
What one does to or for the least of Christ’ people, good or evil, does to or for Christ and will be judged accordingly (MATHEW 25:31-46).
Love is the very foundation of God’s way of life; all the Laws and the Prophets hang on the Law of love.
Truly I tell you, if everyone made the decision to obey God’s Law of love, this world would very quickly become a better place to live.
My beloved, God gives us many gifts, but the greatest of all gifts is love.
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.“
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
