JOHN 16:31-33
“Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

We believers can expect our relationship with Christ to produce peace and comfort when we are "in sync" with Him. At the same time, we should expect continuing tension with an unbelieving world that is "out of sync" with Christ, His Good News, and His people.
The disciples, out of fear scattered after Jesus was arrested (see MARK 14:50). Yet Jesus accepted their statement of faith even though He knew their weakness's back then and accepts our statement of faith in our weaknesses today.
Jesus summed up all He had told them this night, tying together themes from 14:27-29, 16:1-4, and 16:9:11. With these words in verse 33, He told His disciples to take courage. In spite of all the trials and struggles they would inevitably face for they would not be alone.
Jesus, doesn't leave us to face our trials and struggles alone, He is always with us.
If we remember that the ultimate victory has already been won, we can claim the peace of Christ throughout the most troublesome and difficult trials, troubles, and challenges that we face.
My brethren, despite the uncertainty surrounding us in this world today, take heart for Christ Jesus has overcome the world.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
