In the promised land, the Israelites would need to respect authority and build strong families. God has ultimate authority over all things, and every knee shall bow before God and every mouth shall confess to God (ROMANS 14:11). If we are to live in peace, we all need to respect authority as to the Lord, and it starts with our parents.
But what does it mean to “honour” our parents? In part it means to not speak bad of them and to be always polite and respectful. It means to act in a way that shows them courtesy and respect, but not necessarily obedient if that means being disobedient to God. It means respecting them, but always putting God first.
God placed us in the care of our parents, so even if we find it difficult to get along, God commands us to honour them.
But it goes both ways. As parents we have been entrusted with God’s children, and we must love them and bring them up with good example, teaching them to fear the Lord; to respect others and live right with loving discipline. Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
Parents are ultimately responsible for their children, not their school teachers, social services, or government; and therefore the earnest is on you parents to teach them Gods ways and to know what schools are teaching them.
It is your responsibility as parents to protect your children from false teaching and doctrines being pushed by our governments in schools and communities in this dark world.
The devil comes to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (JOHN 10:10); he comes through schools, media, tech, and every way he can. As far as he is concerned, your children are up for grabs. What your children take into their minds will shape the way they think, believe, and behave.
Don’t allow the devil access to their souls (their mind, will, and emotions) through schools, media, tech, or influential people. Protect them, and make sure that God’s Word is the overpowering influence in their lives.
Therefore, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
I Peter 5:8-11 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
