Don't You Realise That Your Body Is The Temple Of The Holy Spirit

Your Body Is Not Your Own

1 CORINTHIANS 6:18-20
“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Many people think that freedom is doing what they want with their own body. But actually, the truth is, they are enslaved to their own sinful desires.
Furthermore, when one involves in sexual immorality, he or she sins against their own body, contaminating their own body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
When we commit our lives to God, the Holy Spirit joins with our spirit (ROMANS 8:16-18) and lives in us (JOHN 14:15-17).
He purchased us at a high price when Jesus died on the cross. Therefore, we no-longer own our bodies; like slaves at an auction, we have been purchased; He bought us at a very high price with His own blood; your body is not your own to do as you like.
Christ death freed us from the wages of sin, “eternal death.” But whilst His death bought us freedom from sin and opens a door that can give us eternal life, it also obligates us to serve Him in accordance to His plans, purposes, and rules.
If you live in a building owned by someone else, you are obligated to abide by the building’s rules. And because your body now belongs to God, you must take care of your body and not violate God’s standards of living.
When you invite friends into your home, do you not make sure it is clean, tidy, and in order?
Surely, knowing that the Holy Spirit abides within you, surely you will make sure it is a clean and pure place for Him to dwell in.
It’s important to understand that sin separates us from God and lets the devil in, including the sin of our ancestors. But James tells us, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
The truth is, He will not cleanse nor enter an unrepentant person, for the choice is yours.
One can choose the world, or the kingdom of God, but we cannot have both.
Do you not realise that those who continue to involve in sin will not inherit the Kingdom of God (GALATIANS 5:19-21)?
Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in the sinful things of this world, those who worship idols, or commit adultery, cheet and lie, or those who are full of pride or selfish ambition will not see the Kingdom of God.
Those things must be put to death by believing on Christ and repentance, that you are “Born Again” into God’s family; “knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:6-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Thank God He is patient; that He wants no one to perish, but for all to come to repentance (2 PETER 3:9).
If you are struggling with any sin, including unforgivness, confess and give it to God in repentance! Be willing to change and ask God to help you, for He is faithful to help those who are willing and cooperate with Him.
Sin is complicated, often as a result of addiction; like a cancer it grows from within. Furthermore, we humans inherited a sinful nature and therefore we cannot change ourselves.
We find ourselves involving in the same old time and time again (see ROMANS 7:13:25).
But theirs Good News! That whilst one must make a firm decision to turn from sin toward God, we do not do it in our own power or understanding; for God sends His Holy Spirit to help us and abides in us individually with a promise that He will never leave us (JOHN 14:15-18).
Therefore, you don’t have to change yourself, not that you can, but rather, you can trust God because He loves you and will help you who believe and cooperate with Him in submission, by changing the way you think from the inside by the renewing of your mind (ROMANS 12:1-2). He will transform you from your sinful nature to a Christ like nature.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ NKJV
Although the flesh remains sinful, one’s spirit is made perfect when joined by the Holy Spirit (ROMANS 8:16-18). But the battle is then in the soul, the mind, will, and emotions, where our decisions are made.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My beloved, He is faithful to cleanse us from all sin and set us free. “And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.”
‭‭Joel‬ ‭2‬:‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
This my beloved is more than just “Good News,” it is amazingly wonderful Good News!
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
‭‭I Chronicles‬ ‭16:34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
