PSALM 119:97-105
Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

This is both the longest psalm and chapter in in the bible. It was written as a repetitive meditation on the amazing beauty of God’s word, and how it helps us to live pure lives and grow in faith (v1).
God’s word gives us wisdom; it makes us wiser than our enemies, indeed wiser than our teachers and elders who don’t practice what they preach.
True wisdom is far more than knowledge it is gaining understanding and applying it to the way we live.
Intelligence and experience does not itself automatically bring wisdom. Wisdom is a result of allowing God’s Word to teach us His ways, and to allow His teachings to guide us through our daily lives. Indeed, ““The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Proverbs 9:10 NKJV
God’s word is lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Just as a torch helps us to walk safely through the woods at night, God’s word helps us to see our way in this dark world, it leads us to the paths God has made for us and illuminates all the entangled roots of false values and philosophies that may trip us up.
Study God’s word regularly, it is your daily bread. It tastes sweeter than honey and gives us understanding of God’s way of life.
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Psalms 34:8 NKJV
If you think you don’t have time to take in God’s word daily, or think you don’t need it, you need it more.
It’s not certain who wrote this psalm, some believe it was David, others Ezra, Daniel, or Jeremiah, but what is certain, it was written from the heart with God’s wisdom.
Therefore, speak these words over your life and walk in them. Let them be your true testimony to God by letting go of your own agendas and all the lust of the flesh, putting on Christ (ROMANS 13-14) and walking in the Spirit (GALATIANS 5:26-26).
O Lord, “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed That I will keep Your righteous judgments. I am afflicted very much; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word. Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, And teach me Your judgments. My life is continually in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your law. The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts. Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, to the very end.”
Psalms 119:105-112 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
