V
We all have those days when the last thing we want to do is rejoice. Our situation seems to be out of control, our mood is down and we are overwhelmed with worry, sorrow or guilt and often pain.
Especially in these days of darkness and even our very hope is being attacked.
There has never been such a time as this, and as a result, we see a massive increase in anxiety/ depression all kinds of mental health issues and suicide, broken marriages and lawlessness.
My brethren, it can be an encouragement to look at the writers of the Psalms, who often felt this way and follow their example.
No matter how low the writers felt, they remained honest with God.
They talked to God in prayer; and whatever their situation, their prayers ended in praise.
When you are feeling down and don’t feel like rejoicing, tell the Lord how you feel, and you will find that God will give you a reason to rejoice. He always hears His children.
Maybe you don’t know Jesus yet, or think that you are not good enough, or your sins are too great. I encourage you, while no sin is too small to separate one from God, no sin is too great for God to forgive; He paid a high price for you, for He wants no one to perish, but for all to turn to Him in repentance (2 PETER 3:9).
My beloved, no problem, whether, health, money, marriage, addiction, or any situation at all is too big, small, or impossible for Jesus; He came to give you life, and that you may have it more abundantly (JOHN 10:10). It’s a free gift, all you need do is believe, stand on His promises, and say thank You.
Like David, we all have a Goliath in our life; but it’s encouraging to know that nothing is too big when God is with you.
David picked up five smooth stones, took one of them, placed into his sling, hurled it at that giant and took him down, before removing his head to silence him forever (1SAMUEL 17:40-51).
Those five smooth stones represent the Jesus five fold ministry of Christ (EPHESIANS 4:11), and with Christ ministry, those stones ready to take down the giant in your life. That is the corner stone, Jesus Christ, His Word, His ways, His truth, and His life (JOHN 14:6), will take out every giant in your life; poverty, sickness, relationship issues, addiction, career issues, learning difficulties, and any situation at all, no giant is too big for Jesus; He has the victory even over death.
“He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.“
Isaiah 53:3-11 NKJV
But we all need to understand, if it’s not Jesus five fold ministry, it’s not Jesus ministry; and if it’s not Jesus ministry, it’s of the enemy and he deceives many.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.“
Romans 8:31-39 NKJV
My beloved, God blessed you with another day of opportunity, to live and to serve our God. He paid a high price for you, so don’t waste it by feeling sorry for yourself, or by worrying about those things you cannot change.
Being sad and miserable won’t change them, in deed it only makes them worse.
But rather, ”Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.“
Philippians 4:5-7 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
