MATHEW 7:24-27
“”Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
”Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV

To build on “solid rock,” means not just studying and learning Scripture, but also gaining understanding and hearing God in every way that He speaks, responding to Him and all that you learn with a big yes and amen.
It is to be grounded in Christ and obedient to the Holy Spirit within, and being observant to dreams, visions, and words of knowledge, and being totally submissive to Him.
It is to “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Colossians 3:2 NKJV
It is to walk in the Spirit and putting to death the lust of the flesh (GALATIANS 5:16-26).
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
Only by putting into practice everything that you learn from God, can you be productive for Him and weather the storms of life that the devil places on our paths.
Practicing obedience becomes the solid foundation to weather the storms of life, but more importantly, to bring non-believers to the Lordship of Christ which is our calling, and experience the supernatural signs and wonders of God.
We all suffer in this world, both believers and unbelievers alike, but if we suffer for Christ, only good can come of it. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
Romans 8:18 NKJV
Peter, when focused on Christ, was able to literately walk upon the stormy seas as Jesus did, and even when he became overwhelmed by the noise of the storm, Jesus was there to take his hand and walk him back to the safety of the boat, and then exercised His power to immediately calm the storm (MATHEW 14:22-33).
In the same way, by remaining focused on Christ and standing firmly on His promises, you can rise above the stormy waters in your life, putting them firmly under your feet. But even if you lose focus, you can be absolutely certain that Jesus is with you and He will not allow you to drown. He is always within arms length and ready to lead you to safety and calm the storm.
The two lives Jesus spoke about at the end of the Sermon on the Mount have much in common.
They both hear Jesus’ teachings, and they both experienced the same set of challenges in life.
The different outcomes was not caused by ignorance, but by one ignoring what Jesus said.
James told us, “when we face troubles”, “not if” (JAMES 1:2).
Therefore, we will all most certainly face the stormy seas of life.
But if you view them as James viewed them, as opportunities to grow, you shall remain standing firmly, even through the fiercest of storms (JAMES 1:2-4).
But your faith must be deep rooted on solid ground, that you can stand upon God’s promises, knowing and believing that He is in control, and that He loves you and is for you. All knowing that He uses all things for good, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 NKJV
This my beloved, is why James said, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (JAMES 2:2-4).”
Only through your trials and challenges can God do His good work in you that you shall become perfect, complete, and needing nothing.
That is the place where we become satisfied with all or nothing, having joy in the Lord which is our strength (NEHEMIAH 8:10) through the chaos of this world, and remaining at peace in Jesus through every storm, and His peace surpasses all understanding and guards our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (PHILIPPIANS 4:7).
Further more my beloved, “I am certain, that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns (PHILIPPIANS 1:6).”
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
