V
This verse is a part of the Lord’s Prayer, that Jesus showed us the order of which we should pray and pray for, and how we should pray and speak His Word over ourselves and others (MATHEW 6:9).
Jesus said, ”“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.“
Matthew 6:5-7 NKJV
Some say we shouldn’t repeat Jesus’ prayer because rather than copying, we should use our own words. But that is a misconception; of course we should choose some words of thankfulness and praise and even have conversation with Him. But God’s word is powerful, perfect, and authoritative and is capable of moving even the biggest of mountains in our lives; the Lord’s Prayer is the perfect prayer, ”For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.“
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
God’s Word breaks the devil’s hold, his assignments, and brings freedom, healing, peace, and joy; it makes way for God’s will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven.
Therefore, I believe on, and speak over, the whole body of Christ, the Lord’s prayer every day, and every member of the body should do so too.
God’s Word exposes the evil within us and actively changes our very nature from within when it is put to work, for God’s Word always accomplishes that what He sent to do, and never returns to our Father void (ISAIAH 55:11).
God’s Word, when spoken by the leading of the Holy Spirit, is a weapon of mass destruction against the enemy and their evil schemes . But, for it to do its job, one must speak it over the one’s self, others, and the issues and circumstance, and believe on the positive outcome.
When we pray, “Give us this day our daily bread (food),” we are not only asking for provision, but acknowledging that God is our provider and our sustainer.
It is a total misconception to believe that us humans can provide for ourselves; does God not make His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and send rain down upon on the just and on the unjust (MATHEW 5:45)?
Would anything grow without God’s natural provisions?
Furthermore, we need more than just physical food to sustain us and keep us healthy; we need good healthy spiritual food and nourishment that can only come from God’s word that enables us to grow in Christ.
Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ””
Matthew 4:4 NKJV
This verse is so true; eternal death awaits all who fail to take in God’s word regularly, digest it, and put into practice all that it teaches.
God’s Word is more than a written book, it is living and powerful and actively operates for us from within and when we speak it out.
Whilst the Holy Spirit connects to our spirit, God’s Word is absorbed through the senses of the flesh and operates within our very soul’s (our mind, will, and emotions) to deliver our souls out of trouble and change the way we think.
God’s Word transforms us by renewing our minds that we become Christ like people, with understanding of what is that good, and acceptable, and the perfect will of God (HEBREW 4:12).
For God is love 1JOHN 4:16), and “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.“
I John 4:17 NKJV
My beloved, we must all make time to take in God’s word every day and learn how to use it, for it is a two edged sword, a major weapon given to us to fight the enemy, and there’s no room for complacency.
Just as we can choose to eat both healthy or unhealthy physical food, we can choose to take in healthy or unhealthy spiritual food.
Spiritual junk food is available to all; you will find it on YouTube, the media, tv, and so on.
The devil is good at making it taste good through his false prophets and teachers; but actually, much is like poison to the soul.
Whilst Jesus come to save your soul (PSALM 116:8; LUKE 19:10), the devil came to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (JOHN 10:10.
Good healthy spiritual food can only be found in your Bible.
Their are some good godly teachers bringing God’s word through the media, but because their are many false teachers too, it is very important to test and approve the spiritual source of that information (1 JOHN 4:1), that we are able to confidently discern what is really true. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (JOHN 8:32).
We all have both spiritual and physical needs. Life can be a struggle, especially in these last days where poverty is rising, inflation is rising far more quickly than salaries, pestilence has become a very serious concern to all and life is becoming more and more challenging; even the threat of world war looms over us bringing all kinds of worries and anxieties.
The Bible tells us some 365 times, “do not fear.”
Fear, anxiety, and worry, are pretty much the same thing, and is the opposite of faith, like hot is the opposite of cold.
Fear is actually a sin, because God commands us, “do not fear,” and it is impossible to please God without faith (HEBREWS 11:6).
Fear is the very source and food of depression and confusion, and without it, anxiety depression cannot live in you.
We humans are all too quick to worry over every little thing; what we don’t have, what we might lose, our so called needs, our trials and tribulations; we worry over our children and their circumstances, and wonder why we lose our peace and joy. Yet in all things, when one seeks first Gods kingdom and His righteousness, all will be added to him. We don’t even need to ask, God is faithful and we can stand upon His promises, and those promises are even extended to our children and as many as the Lord chooses to call (ACTS 2:39).
“”Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:25-34 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
