For A Child Is Born To Us

Let Jesus Be The Reason You Sing

ISAIAH 9:6-7
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
”‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6-7‬ ‭NKJV‬

In times of great darkness, God promised to send a light who would shine upon everyone living in the shadow of death (v2). And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah, in this triumphant song, rejoices as though the promised Child of the house of David had already been born.
The Child’s birth right involves authority and rule, while His character is depicted with descriptive names.
His wisdom and knowledge is unmeasurable, and His divinity is clearly established by His title, “Mighty God.” The Fatherhood of the Messiah is eternal, which clearly demonstrates His identity with God (JOHN 10:30).
Furthermore, as the “Prince of peace,” He brings peace into the world by His atoning death on a cross, paying our penalty, the price of sin and reconciling us to God.
The line of David will be the human line for the source of these blessings (2 SAMUEL 7:8-16; LUKE 1:32-33), and the divine nature of the Messiah will guarantee their permanence.
This wonderful message of hope was fulfilled in the birth of Christ and the establishment of His eternal Kingdom. He came not to judge, but to deliver all people who believe from their slavery of sin.
Today’s world has become a very dark place indeed; we see corruption in very high places of government and the church. As a result, we see lawlessness, wars, terrorism, persecution, sexual immorality, broken marriages, failing businesses, unemployment, poverty, unreasonable rules, laws, and controls; we see pestilence, rising mental health issues, including learning difficulties, anxiety/ depression, even suicides at levels never seen before, not to mention extreme weather patterns and the threat of nuclear war.
It seems from every angle this world and everything in it is falling apart. But all these things have to come to pass, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
But we believers have a confident hope of a wonderful future which is actually available to all, not by any kind of good deeds or works, but through faith in Jesus Christ.
It’s not about anything any one of us can do, but because of what Jesus has already done and He said it is finished (JOHN 19:28-30).
Jesus is our confident hope because we can stand on His promises; He is God and He cannot lie; His word cannot be changed and His will cannot be stopped; we believers are safe in His Mighty Hands.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31-39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
May this Christmas season bring hope to all as we celebrate not just the birth of Jesus Christ, but His whole life, who He is, and what He has done; and may many more people turn to God in repentance and be saved before the second coming of the Lord when He shall return to pour out His judgement on this world. “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭II Peter‬ ‭3:8-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Many say that the roots of Christmas is pagan worship of false Gods and nothing good can be built on such roots. Therefore many don’t celebrate Christmas.
But the truth is, Christ’ blood washed away every evil of this world including its roots for you who believe.
Therefore this Christmas, celebrate Christ and His birth and everything He is and has done; make Him the head of your table and the reason that you sing, for He said, “it is finished.
My beloved, “I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬-‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
