Psalm 16:8-11
“I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

David, by saying “I shall not be moved” was talking about the unique sense of security that comes from God.
Many people look at money as their security, but the truth is, money cannot buy happiness or sustained joy, and it certainly cannot buy you a place in heaven (MARK 10:24-25).
God does not exempt His people from the circumstances of every day life, there’s always consequences for our actions, good and evil.
Believers and unbelievers alike experience troubles, failures, and pain at times (MATHEW 5:45), but unbelievers live in a sense of hopelessness about the long-term future of life and confusion over their true purpose on earth.
But those who seek and believe in Christ can move ahead in life with the confident hope that the best is yet to come; that God is taking them on the path of life in His presence that is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore.
David said, his heart was glad, for he had found the secret of joy that can be experienced even in the face of the most challenging of troubles.
His joy was lasting because it does not rely on good circumstance, but rather on God’s presence which never leaves us (JOHN 14:15-18).
As we contemplate His daily presence we will experience joy in the Lord that strengthens us (NEHEMIAH 8:10), contentment, and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, that shall guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7).
Even in the grave, my flesh will rest in hope. For God will not leave my soul in Sheol.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, the day is fast approaching when the pain and failures of today will be no more. For it is written; “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.””
Revelation 21:3-4 NKJV
Now that’s a promise well worth waiting for.
I tell you again and again, “”Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.”
Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV
Like David, make this psalm a prayer of hope, and experience the peace of God that exceeds all understanding that guards our hearts and minds through Christ (PHILIPPIANS 4:7), and the joy of the Lord that remains even through the chaos of this world.
Speak this psalm over yourselves and restore your hope and peace in Christ.
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips. O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalms 16:1-11 NKJV
Finally my brethren, open your hearts to Jesus, put down every barrier and let Him in to bring change into your lives.
There is no need to go around and around the same old roundabout of dispatorment, poverty, broken relationships, anger, fear, disappointment, sickness and depression and such things as these.
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:14-16 NKJV
Truly I tell you, with Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
