David asked God to approve the thoughts of his mind and words of his mouth as if they were offerings brought to the altar.
Would you change the way you live your daily lives and the way you go about your business if you knew God was examining your every word and thought?
Ask God to examine what is in your heart and words and reveal the truths, for ““The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it (JEREMIAH 17:9)?
The heart being part of the flesh has one goal, to fulfil the lust of flesh.
The truth is, we cannot do anything good without God’s help.
Having said that, Jesus gives us a new way of selfless love, which in itself is immensely satisfying and brings about real and lasting joy and self respect.
Without the help and leading of the Holy Spirit, we would live a life of selfish ambitions, inappropriate thoughts and desires that would drag us into all kinds of sinful actions and death, for that is the sinful nature of mankind.
Thankfully, Jesus made a way where there was no way.
Having paid it all with His own blood, He said, ““If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
John 14:15-18 NKJV
The Holy Spirit is a wonderful gift from God, our help in every situation and the guarantee of our salvation.
Furthermore, Paul tells us, “Dear friends, “Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
When we submit to God, He is faithful to help us and give us desires that are pleasing to Him, but we still need to cooperate with Him and put the sinful desires of our flesh to death.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
II Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV
Paul said, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
In other words, rather than satisfying one’s own lust, present your bodies a living sacrifice to serve God, shutting down the lust of the flesh, living a blameless life and being obedient to God’s will and cooperating with the Spirit by following His leading, not being conformed to the ways and sin of this world, but rather be transformed by allowing God to renew your mind and change the way you think; that you come to understand what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (ROMANS 12:1-2).
By this without changing one’s personality, we become more Christ like in our decisions and responses to the temptations and trials of daily life, and that Jesus way becomes the way you live and operate in your daily lives.
Furthermore, we come to understand God’s will in our lives, enabling us to walk in our calling rather than the lust of our flesh.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Galatians 5:16-26 NKJV
My beloved, to walk in the leading of the Holy Spirit, first one must know Him and receive Him. The truth is no one is saved without Him.
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
II Corinthians 1:20-22 NKJV
Therefore, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.””
Acts 2:38-39 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
