Love The Lord With All Heart, And All Your Soul, And All Your Strength

DEUTERONOMY 6:4-9
“”Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

To love is not a request, it is a commandment of God, for the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one, and yet are the perfect trinity, which is why God’s people are commanded to be baptised in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (MATHEW 28:19).
Jesus said we are ‘to love God with all of ourselves;” this is the first and greatest commandment, and the second is like it, to love your neighbor as yourself.’ These commandments encompass all the other Old Testament laws. (MATHEW 22:37-39).
Moses, in the days leading up to the end of his leadership, laid out the essentials for us to follow God and raise our children.
This passage provides the central theme of Deuteronomy, setting a pattern that helps us relate the Word of God to our daily lives.
We are to love God, thinking constantly about His commandments night and day, teaching our children and living by the guidelines set out in His word.
We should write them on our door post and gates so we see them every time we pass, on our fridges too, that they become embedded deep in our hearts and minds, and are a constant reminder of God’s love, so that He becomes the influence of everything we say, do, and believe.
God emphasised the importance of teaching God’s word to our children-eternal truths are most effectively learned in the environment of a loving home.
God’s word is the solid foundation that will lead them to a wonderful glorious future as they grow-up walking with God and finding their way in life. Furthermore, they too, will pass on God’s eternal truths to the generations to come.
Jesus repeated these instructions to love the Lord in Mark 12:29-30 and MATHEW 22-37-40.
To love is the greatest of all commandments, all the Law and the Prophets stand upon these two great commandments (MATHEW 22:40).
When one is obedient to the Law of love, obedience to all Gods commandments shall fall into place, for love is the foundation of Christ Jesus’ way of life.
Love is far more than a feeling or an emotion; it is an action of care toward others-too see others problems as your own problems, and to make every effort help them through their their troubles without expectation of any kind of payment or reward, for God’s kind of love is selfless and unconditional.
To love your neighbor as yourself is a duty of care toward others-your neighbors in your street, village, country, and even over seas; they are all your neighbors.
My beloved, if only we could all learn to love one another and put these great commandments into practice, this world would very quickly become a better place to live.
Kindness comes without a price tag, and one random act of kindness can not only change lives, but often leads to another and another and another, for true love is contagious.
