Love Means Doing What God Has Commanded Us, And He Has Commanded Us To Love One Another Just As You Have Heard From The Beginning

Love Is A Duty Of Care

2JOHN 1:5-6
“And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
”‭‭II John‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬

The commandment to love one another in the New Testament is recurrent; indeed, there are plus fifty such verses in the New Testament.
Sadly love is missing from much of the church today, and this message is for the “lady” the bride of Christ.
It is time to stop the bickering and stand on the commandment of love and bring unity throughout the body.
We are not supposed to be in competition with one another, but rather are all called to operate together by the leading of the only head, Jesus Christ.
It is then that we shall all come together in unity like a well oiled machine.
It is not man’s church, it is Jesus’ church, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬-‭16‬ NKJV
If it’s not Christ five fold ministry, it shall profit you nothing.
Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.””
‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Love doesn’t gossip, or back stab, or cause division.
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
God’s whole way of life is grounded in love and is not a new, commandment.
It first appeared in the Old Testament in the third book of Moses. Indeed, it is written, “You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭19:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Love is not just a feeling or an emotion. It is a choice and an action. It is avoiding prejudice and discrimination by accepting people, caring about their needs as one cares about their own; giving, supporting, serving, and witnessing to them with the hope that they would turn to God in repentance.
“Jesus said “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:37-40‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
To love your neighbor as yourself, is a choice, a duty of care and a way of life. It is Jesus way! It always has been, and always will be.
If only we could all obey these two great commandments; truly I tell you, this world would soon become a better place to live.
My brethren, surely “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭NKJV‬
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
