Keeping God’s word firmly in our hearts gives us a righteous response when the devil comes to test us (see MATHEW 4:1-10 for Jesus’ response to temptation), and it breaks demonic spells and curses and brings righteousness into our lives.
The Holy Bible is far more than a book of words, or a book of Prophecy that is day by day is turning into a book of history; it is far more than an instruction manual or a book of stories; it is more than a guide book that tells us how to live. The Word is a living manifestation of God, indeed is God.
It is all of that and more that actively goes to work in our hearts and minds to bring change in our character, transforming those who take it in, into Christ-like people. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
That’s not to totally change our personalities or turn us into robots, but rather, to give us a Christ-like loving, caring nature and attitude toward others, and Christ-like wisdom and responses to whatever life throws at us as we go through our daily life.
God’s Word is far more than a collection of words, or a vehicle for communicating ideas; it is a living and powerful, life changing and dynamic.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1, 3, 5 NKJV
With more incisiveness than a surgeon’a knife, God’s word made us. No one knows us better than our creator and His Word exposes who we really are and what we are not. It shines light into our hearts and discerns what is within us, both good and evil.
But if God’s word is going to bring about the desired change we want, we have to take it in, learn it, and put it into practice in our everyday lives.
We need understanding and revelation that can only come from God through prayer and relationship with Christ.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (living righteous lives for God). And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (cooperating with God), that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (gaining the ability to discern God’s will for you).
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
My brethren, God’s word is awesome in power, it always accomplishes it’s purposes and never returns to God void (ISAIAH 55:11).
Therefore, make time to study, take it in, chew it over, learn it, memorise it, asking God for understanding and revelation, then putting it into practice in your daily lives.
Again I tell you, ““Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
