COLOSSIANS 2:6-7

V
Receiving Christ as your Lord and Saviour is just the beginning of a life with Christ. But if you are to grow and become rooted in His love and established in faith, you must get to know Him through relationship, and follow Him in obedience by studying His word, receiving understanding and revelation, listening to, and acting upon His voice within and walking in Spirit (GALATIANS 5:16-26), “that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.“
Ephesians 4:22-24 NKJV
Knowing Christ is not enough, His ways cannot help you unless you listen, understand, believe, and put into practice everything you learn from Him (PHILIPPIANS 4:9).
Paul uses the illustration of being rooted in Christ, just as plants draws in nourishment from soil through their roots.
We believers must draw our spiritual food and nourishment from Christ through His Word and being deep rooted in Him. Only then can we be certain that what we draw in is good healthy food and nourishment that will help us and enable us to test and approve everything we see and hear, grow in Christ, blossom and shine for Christ, and display the fruits of the Spirit in our daily lives (GALATIANS 5:22-23).
What we take in spiritually will have lasting effect, therefore do not be deceived by the lies and false teachings that come through much of the media and man written books; test and approve everything you see by lining it up with God’s word and obtaining confirmation through the Holy Spirit.
The Word tells us to test the spirit, that is the source, rather than the teaching or prophecy. If it sourced by the holy Spirit, you can be assured that it is true and perfect, and it will produce the fruits of the Spirit.
But if it’s sourced in the flesh, (mans opinion/ teachings) the fruits shall be of the flesh.
“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.“
Galatians 5:19-26 NKJV
Therefore my “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.“
I John 4:1-6 NKJV
God wants to guide and help you grow in Christ while leading you through your daily lives and problems.
But you have to know and trust Him, and be committed to living your life according to His plans and purposes; that is to say submitting your will to Him (ROMANS 12-1-2), seeking to learn from Him, His life, and His teachings (COLOSSIANS 3:16), and recognising and respecting the leadership and power of the Holy Spirit living in you (ACTS 1:8).
Just as plants draw continuous nourishment from soil, so we can draw our nourishment from Christ.
The more we draw truth and nourishment from Him, the less we will be fooled by those who claim to have all of life’s answers.
Furthermore, by being committed and trusting God in all things, the victory becomes ours through Christ who is our strength (1 CORINTHIANS 15:57; DEUTERONOMY 20:4).
In this season of darkness, our world leaders are placing more and more controls on the people; many because of fear, confusion, deception, and sometimes even laziness, have slipped back from Christ, forsaking the kingdom, standing back from assembly and missing opportunities to share the Good News.
My brethren, time is running out and now would be a good time to get back into worshiping together, studying together, and building your relationship with God.
It’s takes far more than attending church once a week or buying someone in need a coffee.
It is time to get serious with Jesus; He is the coming judge who shall decide your eternal future.
Does it not make sense to know Him more and submit to Him?
Therefore, get right with Him; “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”
Colossians 2:6-10 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
