2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
”II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

Scripture was produced by human writers, however the original Author is God. He literally “breathed” out the Scriptures so that they are not merely human words, but are simultaneously and ultimately the very words of God, in deed, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-5 NKJV
Thus, the Scriptures are true in all that they affirm and are completely authoritative (1 PETER 1:20-21).
The bible is not simply a book of “God’s words”, it is God’s Word! And we should read it, take it in, digest it, and apply it to our daily lives.
The bible is our safe guard against false teachings. It is our only source of knowledge and instruction on how to live and be saved. It shows us what is true and equips us to live for God.
We must not, in our zeal for the truth, forget the purpose of God’s Word; to equip us to do what is right. We should not study the bible simply to increase our knowledge or to help us win arguments or get our own way, but rather our knowledge of God’s Word should bring change in our character, strengthen our faith and help us to do God’s work in this world as it actively works within us (see HEBREWS 4:12).
Knowledge has no use unless we put what we have learned into practice.
Paul emphasis the essential link between knowing God’s Word and living God’s word; applying it to everything we do in our daily lives; that the man of God may be complete, receiving revelation that he may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
But if we are to gain knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, we must come to the Lord in total submission and be right with Him because a veil covers our mind to block understanding, “For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
II Corinthians 3:14-18 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
