Remember This; Whoever Sows Sparingly Will Also Reap Sparingly, And Whoever Sows Generously Will Also Reap Generously

Be A Cheerful Giver

2 CORINTHIANS 9:6-8
“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
”‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭9:6-8‬ ‭NKJV‬

Many are hesitant to give generously, because they worry they won’t have enough money left over to meet their own needs. But the truth is, God loves a cheerful giver.
When you give in obedience to the Holy Spirit, God will continue to make every provision.
Giving is investing into your future, the more you sow, the more you reap. Though investment in itself is not the reason to give.
A giving attitude is just as important as the amount one gives. He, who is only able to give small should not feel shame or embarrassment, it is more about one’s heart.
God is more concerned about how and why one gives.
“Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:41-44‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
The poor widow’s character shines for God, as she demonstrates her trust in Him giving away all her livelihood.
Whether giving to one’s church or a needy person in the street, be a cheerful giver, not grudgingly, or of expectation of something in return, but out love and faith in Jesus Christ, simply because the Spirit of God moved your heart to give.
Giving to the needy whether friend or foe is “loving” your neighbour as yourself. Caring for their needs as one’s own.
To love your God with all your heart, your soul, and your mind, is the greatest commandment of all, the second is like the first, to love your neighbour as yourself.
When one is obedient to these great commandments, all the other commandments are fulfilled, for all the Law and the prophets stand on these two commandments (MATHEW 22:37-40).
To love your neighbour as yourself is to care for others needs as if they are your own; it is to help others out of love as the Holy Spirit leads, simply because the Spirit put it on your heart, rather than for anything in return. This not only demonstrates your love for God and others, but also proves your trust in God, that by His grace, He will provide with all sufficiency all your needs.
When you give to to someone in need, you give to Christ. Jesus said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me (MATHEW 24:40).”
When it comes to giving, we must be wise, giving by the leading of the Holy Spirit, not with selfish agendas or because of emotional blackmail.
While God calls us to be cheerful givers, He does not want us to be fooled by the greedy, liars and lazy.
The Scriptures tells us, if anyone will not work, neither shall he eat
(2 THESSALONIANS 3:10).
Giving outside of the leadership of the Holy Spirit is foolishness; it not only drags one into hardship or even financial collapse, but may even undermine the work that God is doing in the lives of others.
To subsidise someone’s living costs is not teaching them to trust or lean on God, but rather to lean and become dependent on you.
Surely, while we should always be ready to give, at times it is better to simply pray for them and teach them.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
But sowing is not just giving financial help to the needy, both the truth of Jesus Christ and your prayers are by far more valuable than any amount of money.
Therefore, do just as the twelve Jesus commanded, saying, “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My brethren many are falling victim to the world economic crisis we are all facing today.
Unemployment is rising along with inflation, many are falling into poverty and we must be ready to give and help by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
But maybe it’s you who is struggling to put food on the table, or meet the basic needs of your family.
But I remind you of what Jesus told us.
“”Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭25‬-‭34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My beloved, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and “ALL”, not some, but “ALL” shall be added to you.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
