1 CHRONICLES 29:13-19
“”Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You. For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, As were all our fathers; Our days on earth are as a shadow, And without hope. “O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own. I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You. O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart toward You. And give my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep Your commandments and Your testimonies and Your statutes, to do all these things, and to build the temple for which I have made provision.”

V
Even though David was king and could accumulate pretty much anything he wanted, he was conscious of the need to give, particularly to God.
How can anyone strive to accumulate, if they know what they have gathered isn’t really theirs. The natural outcome of a right perspective on possessions is generosity.
David contrasts God’s everlasting nature with the fleeting lives of his people. Nothing, unless rooted in God’s character can last.
Since our most impressive deeds fade to dust, where should we place our confidence?
Only in a relationship with God can we find anything permanent, for His love never fades, and nothing can separate us from His love, not even death (ROMANS 8:31-39).
David understood that his real home was with God. If a king regards himself as an alien in his own land, how much more should we?
David, resisted the temptation to regard the land as his to do with as he wished. He understood the brevity of life.
We can’t take anything with us when we leave this world, so why accumulate?
This perspective on life allows us to be transparent before God. We can remain in sync with God because we’re holding nothing from Him. Nothing we have has real value unless it furthers God’s Kingdom, and He is more than capable of supplying all our needs.
“Wholeheartedly desire to obey” means to be totally dedicated to God. This was David’s prayer for Solomon-that above all else, his main desire in life would be to serve God.
Do you find it difficult to do what God wants? God can give you wholehearted devotion, if you believe in Christ Jesus; He will, if you give yourself over to Him and completely cooperate with with Him, change the way you think.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
My brethren, God wants to work in you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases Him (PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
All you need do is listen and cooperate with Him. And since He has sent His Holy Spirit to help you (JOHN14:15-18), you must pray in the Spirit, hear in the Spirit, and walk in the Spirit, for those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Without the Holy Spirit we can do nothing good, for our days on this earth are as a shadow and without hope, because we are all sinners and deserve God’s judgment. But by His grace He forgave us all and paid our debt of sin on a cross that we might live.
But we must receive the gift of life that Christ purchased for all people by believing in Him and receiving His Holy Spirit, who is our down payment of salvation; our guarantee of life everlasting (EPHESIANS 1:13-14; 2 CORE 1:22).
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Galatians 5:16-26NKJV
Now, our God, we give You thanks and praise Your glorious name because you alone are worthy. Amen and amen.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
