Do Not Do Your Good Deeds Publicly, To Be Admired By Others, For You Will Lose Your Reward From Your Father In Heaven

MATHEW 6:1-4
“”Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

The term hypocrites used here, describes people who do good deeds for the wrong reasons; not out of compassion or other good motives, but for personal gain and appearances, blowing their own trumpet.
Their actions may seem good, but their motives are hollow. These acts bring fruitless temporary reward, and the truth is, it’s the only reward they will ever get.
To not allow your left hand know what your left hand is doing is not an excuse to hide your selfish agendas, but rather to protect you from falling into self.
But God, who sees all things, will reward those accordingly, for all our actions both good and evil, come with consequences.
When Jesus says, don't tell your left hand what your right hand is doing, He is teaching that our motives for giving to God and others must be pure. It's easy to give with mixed motives; to do something for someone if it will benefit us in return.
But we believers should avoid all scheming and give out of love, as a response to the Father’s love on us.
It's easier to do what is right when we gain recognition and praise, but to be sure our motives are not selfish, we should do our good deeds quietly or in secret, with no thought of reward.
Jesus says we should check our motives in three areas; generosity (6:4); prayer (6:6), and fasting(6:18.
Those acts should not be self-centered, but rather God centered, done not to make us look good, but to make God look good.
The reward God promises are not always material, but for sure, blessings are piling up in heaven (MATHEW 6:19-21).
Doing something only to put ourselves on a pedestal, or to give us status, power, or money, is not a loving sacrifice.
Their are many suffering people, orphans, widows, sick and disabled, and people caught up in addiction, or in poor health, and many held by curses and all kinds of evils, and we believers need to do our bit to help them find a way forward.
Love and prayer is our number one weapon to break the cycle of despair of the needy. But they have to cooperate and desire change; we cannot change people, only God can do that.
We can give them love, comfort, and encouragement, small money for a meal or a place of temporary refuge, but we cannot continually subsidise their living.
If people are not cooperative or reject the help you offer, move on to those who are willing.
Jesus said to “These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.“

But whatever your deeds, do it out of love without agenda or expectation, and do it only by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
To give out of emotions is not only foolish, but may even undermine God’s work.
We believers are not a “meal ticket” for the lazy (2 THESSALONIANS 3:10), nor are we responsible for those who won’t help themselves, or for every church project or orphanage, though the devil would have you believe you are.
Giving comes from God’s directive as he sends the right help through the right people at the right time.
But for certain, a fool and his money is quickly parted.
Therefore be wise, give only by the leading of the Spirit, for “The thief has come to steal, and to kill, and destroy (JOHN 10:10), and you are his prey. Don’t be deceived or caught up in his evil schemes (1 PETER 5:8-10).
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.“
