Make Disciples Of All Nations

Church In The Streets And Communities

MATHEW 28:16-20
“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:16-20‬ ‭NKJV‬

God gave Jesus authority over heaven and earth, and on the basis of that authority, Jesus told his disciples to make more disciples. Just as the disciples preached, baptized, taught, and the healed the sick and cast out demons in this authority (MATHEW 10:8), we must continue the good work in His authority.
Today, Jesus is still commanding us to share the Good News and make them disciples for His Kingdom.
Jesus left the disciples with these words of instruction and were as we believers are today under His authority to make new disciples to obey Christ.
Furthermore, He would be with us as He was with them always.
Jesus said, ““If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:15-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
In previous missions Jesus had sent his disciples only to the Jews (10:5-6); but from now on the mission would be to the whole world.
Jesus is Lord of all the earth, and He died for the sins of all people from all nations.
Therefore, believers are to go, whether next door, or around the world to other countries and make disciples of all who are willing. This is not an option, but a command to all of God's people. This Is church in the streets and communities, taking advantage of every opportunity outside God puts in our path. Jesus said, “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬
Jesus' words affirm the reality of the Trinity; the concept comes from Jesus Himself. He didn't say baptize them in the “names”, but in the “name” of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The word "Trinity" is not written in our bible, but it well describes the three in one God, The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The disciples were to baptize believers because baptism unites believers with Jesus Christ in their death to sin and resurrection to new life.
Baptism symbolizes submission to God, a willingness to live God's way, and identify’s with God's covenant people.
Going into the water of baptism is publicly declaring submission to God and agreeing a covenant with Him. Mark told us, “I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭NKJV‬
The Holy Spirit is one’s guarantee of salvation (EPHESIANS 1:13-14; 2 CORINTHIANS 1:22) and is God’s promise (His part of the covenant)-a promise we believers can confidently stand on.
Jesus was physically with the disciples until he ascended into heaven and then with them spiritually through the Holy Spirit (ACTS 1:4).
The Spirit would be Jesus' presence that would never leave them (JOHN 14:26). And he continues to be with us today in the same way.
The old Testament prophecies and genealogies in the book of Mathew present Jesus' credentials for being King of the world; not a military leader as the disciples had originally hoped, but a spiritual King who can overcome all evil and rule in the hearts of every person.
We believers must serve our King, we must make Jesus the King and Lord of our lives and worship Him as our Saviour.
John the Apostle wrote ““You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭4:11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
This sums up our ultimate purpose in life; to glorify and honor our all powerful living God who is worthy of all praise. It is by His hand all things were created. Therefore, “Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭33:1-12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
