EPHESIANS 6:10-17
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

In our Christian life we will face many battles, sickness, sin, financial, addiction, and often with people of authority, our governments and leaders, but the truth is, the real battle is with principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places. These are evil spirits and demons, the route cause of most of our troubles.
Just as God uses evil people to bring about good, these devil’s use anyone they can including Christians to bring about destruction, pain, and even death.
Therefore my brethren, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
I Peter 5:8 NKJV
These evil spirits and demons are never far away (JOB 1:6), listening to conversations and looking for ways to steal from you, to destroy your plans, and cause you to slip back into sin that leads to death (JAMES 1:15).
They are looking for ways into your mind, will and emotions, your very soul, the control centre of your body, that they can “demonise” influence or even possess and control your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
It takes just a crack in the door, and they shall enter in. The truth is, many are born demonised through the sins of their ancestors.
When we believers operate in sin whether mistakenly or deliberately, we come in agreement with the devil and let them in. This is not fiction or fantasy; these demons are real and have taken possession of believers minds and therefore have influence over their decisions, responses, and actions.
Many say that a Christian cannot be demonised or possessed, because the body is the vessel of the Holy Spirit.
But sin separates us from God and allows the devil to take possession of many rooms in the house and gain access to ones soul, to influence one’s thoughts, feelings, and emotions, giving them power to affect one’s decisions and direction or even bring sickness and poor health to the flesh where they reside.
We humans are made up of three parts, spirit, soul, and flesh, together they become human (1 THESSALONIANS 5:23).
The holy Spirit joins with one’s Spirit (ROMANS 8:16-39), not our flesh and one is saved, for the Spirit is the seal of our salvation (EPHESIANS 1:13-14; 2 CORINTHIANS 1:22), and the battle starts within and for our soul.
We have free will to live by God’s leading or by the flesh, which becomes very influential when demonised.
Paul struggling with sin, told us, “So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.”
Romans 7:14-23 NLT
Just like we people today, Paul struggled with sin, but as he points out, it wasn’t him doing the sin, but a powerful influence of sin living within him.
He needed deliverance just as many today.
But He went on to say, “Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.”
Romans 7:24-25 NLT
Unlike us believers today, Paul did not have the Holy Spirit in Him to lead, guide, help, and empower him to live right. But we have, Jesus said, ““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
John 14:12-18 NKJV
Having received the Holy Spirit, we have a choice, to walk in the Spirit or the flesh.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
Galatians 5:16-18 NKJV
The decision to walk in the leading of Holy Spirit becomes very difficult when the devil influences from within, often deceiving his victims to believe his whispers are from God, and therefore influences the flesh to do the devil’s work.
“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Galatians 5:19-26 NKJV
Possession is not ownership. If someone steals your car, you still own it, but that devil who took possession can take it in any direction he wishes, breaking every law in the book until he is removed.
Demons are like squatters and need to be cast out. But like evicting squatters in the physical world, a court order is needed, to kick these devil’s out of your life.
Therefore, since sin gave them authority to enter, one must tick the boxes and satisfy the judge; that means to submit to the Lord’s ways and direction, and repent of not just the sins that let them in, but of all sin before God will evict them.
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7 NKJV
Like squatters these devil’s do not want to leave; your body is their home and have often been resident for years; so it’s not difficult to understand that they will fight tooth and nail to keep their home, therefore when evicted, they often come out screaming (ACTS 8:4-8; LUKE 4:40-41).
Once one is fully delivered from these devil’s and curses, healing will often follow by command because “He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:3-5 NKJV
There is Good News, these evil spirits and demons are subject to all God’s Spirit filled people (LUKE 10:17).
We believers through Christ have authority to cast them out and be set free from the curse of sin and death. “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
John 8:36 NKJV
My brethren, do you here voices from within? Do you find yourself battling the same temptation over and over? Do you find it difficult to overcome anger, lust, or any sinful habits? Do you suffer from depression, or struggle with fear? Are you struggling with addiction or mental health issues, or indeed any other health problems or finding it difficult to conceive? Are you living in poverty or lack? If so, it is likely you need deliverance from these evils and their curses.
Pray to our Father in heaven, for all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered (JEOL 2:32).
My beloved, we believers all face a powerful army whose goal it is to defeat Christ church.
When we give ourselves to Christ, these evils instantly become our worst enemies and will use every trick in the book to drag us back into sin and hinder our ministries; they attack our marriages, finances, and every day life to steal our peace.
Even though we are assured of the victory, we must engage in the battle until Christ’ return.
We need God’s supernatural power to defeat Satan and his evil army.
But God sent His Holy Spirit to live in all believers (JOHN 14:15-18) to help, guide, and teach us, and to lead us into the victory.
“Did you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”
I Corinthians 6:19 NKJV
The Holy Spirit lives in us, and is our guarantee of Salvation (2 CORINTHIANS 1:22; EPHESIANS 1:14).
He has given us the whole armor of God to keep us safe and strong to battle against the enemy.
Paul told us, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Ephesians 6:13-20 NKJV
My beloved if you think you might be cursed or demonised, go to a church operating in deliverance and get set free. Don’t continue in misery and hardship, as if on a roundabout of misery; going around and around to the same old stresses of arguing, misery, and strife. But rather, as in the Lord’s Prayer (MATHEW 6:13), ask and get delivered from the evil one.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
