Careful Words Make For A Careful Life; Careless Talk May Ruin Everything

Guard Your Mouth

PROVERBS 13:3-6
“He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. A righteous man hates lying, But a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame. Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, But wickedness overthrows the sinner.
”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13:3-6‬ ‭NKJV‬

You cannot master self-control if you cant control your tongue. Your words can do so much damage, they can cut and destroy peoples lives.
James recognised this truth when he told us, “the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.”
‭‭James‬ ‭3:6-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
If you want self-control, start with your tongue; but don’t expect to be able to control it in your own power; you need God’s help and leadership to tame your tongue.
Stop and think before you react or speak, for what you say will have a lasting effect, good or evil. ”Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.“
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
James told us, that what we say about others can have lasting effect on their lives; ”Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.“
‭‭James‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Therefore, choose your words carefully, and stand back from all gossip. Their is a fine line between discussing one’s behaviour with another out of care for that person, and gossip. Gossip destroys relationships and lives.
If you control this small but powerful member, you can control the rest of your body, but you need the Holy Spirit to do it.
Don't be a lazy Christian, work hard in everything you do as if working for the Lord (COLOSSIANS 3:23-24). The truth is, those who work hard will prosper.
Therefore, do not put of until tomorrow that what you can do today. Procrastination bears no fruit, and a tree that bears no fruit is cut down (MATHEW 7:19-23).
We believers must always be truthful, whatever the situation; lies bring one into agreement with the devil, and he is the father of all lies.
Whenever one lies, even when it seems justified to keep the peace, or it seems irrelevant, calling it, "A little white lie," or saying, "I lied to protect them," he is joining with the devil; indeed he opens doors that allow the devil in and take residence.
My brethren, ““No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Jesus leads in all truth, but Satan is liar. The two cannot be in union with each other.
Living blamelessly, safeguards your life.
Every choice for good sets into motion other opportunities for good. Evil choices follow the same pattern, but in the opposite direction.
Each decision you make to obey God's Word will bring a greater sense of order to your life, while each decision to disobey will bring confusion and destruction.
The right choices you make reflect your integrity.
Obedience brings the greatest safeguard and security, but we must all be mindful that every action both good and evil comes with consequences.
But having said that, we are but mere humans and we will make mistakes. But God is faithful and merciful.
The truth is, we cannot walk in our own strength and remain righteous; we need the indwelling Holy Spirit to help us (JOHN 14:15-18).
Therefore, ”I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.“
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭24‬, ‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
