LAMENTATIONS 3:21-23
“This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Jeremiah had experienced God’s faithfulness; he knew that punishment followed disobedience. But he had a ray of hope in all the sin and sorrow surrounding him. “ The endless faithful love of God.”
He had God’s promise of a future restoration and blessing, and Jeremiah knew with certainty, that God would keep that promise.
The faithful love of God never ends, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 NKJV
We are all sinners in need of a Saviour; every single day we commit acts of sin often without even knowing it. Though it seems we all started with a clean slate, it becomes soiled daily by our sin. But because Christ paid our debt of sin, past and future on a cross, whether it was a minor mistake, or a deliberate sinful action, when we come to Christ in repentance, the slate is wiped clean.
It’s like Jesus takes out all the pages from our record book, tears them up and destroys them, and then replaces them with a copy of His spotless record.
Therefore, “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning.
Does that mean we can continue in sin? Of course not, we must repent; that is to turn from our old sinful ways toward God and sin no more. The truth is, as mature Christians, repentance should not be because we deliberately sinned, but rather, just in case we have made a mistake.
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
