He Is The Faithful God Who Keeps His Covenant For A Thousand Generations

By Faith Alone

DEUTERONOMY 7:6-11
“”For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face. Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them.

Why did God choose Israel above all the other nations at that time?
It was not because they was great in numbers, nor was it a matter of merit. But rather about God keeping His promises to their ancestors.
Just as God chose the nation of Israel; He chose all believers today to be His special treasure simply because He loves His people, and His people can love Him because He loved them first (1 JOHN 4:19).
We believers are a holy people to the Lord because we believe by faith that we are washed clean by the blood of Jesus and are saved.
The promise is to all people.
Paul said, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
The just, God’s holy people, are those who are justified by faith.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
It is by faith alone that we please God and are saved.
We cannot buy God or manipulate Him to our way of thinking. Good works cannot undo our sinful past, for sin justifies death. But Jesus justified our new life in Christ by taking our place on a cross to pay our eternal debt, and because we believe on Him, we are saved by His grace.
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭8‬-‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
He is God, He is the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him, simply because that was His plan and His promise.
He is God, He cannot lie, and never breaks His promises. But however, He will return to bring judgement and repay those who hate Him to their face.
We either choose to love Him and keep His commandments or we don’t. There’s no middle ground. We cannot continue with one foot in the world and the other in God’s kingdom.
Jesus said, ““I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ ””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬-‭22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
My beloved, understand the treasure we have found in Christ Jesus.
No one can buy or earn this treasure, and unlike the temporary treasures of this world, it is eternal.
Money, status, and possessions bring a false sense of security and temporary joy, but joy and peace in Christ is eternal.
Through sin the devil justifies death, but through His blood, Jesus justifies life.
Jesus told us, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Jesus made a way for all to have life, and have it abundantly. He made a way where there was no way by paying your debt of sin on a cross. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Since God went to the extremes of sending His only begotten Son to redeem His people with His own blood, we can ask ourselves with confidence, “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:33-39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
