PSALM 73:26-28
“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish; You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry. But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works.

V
Asaph declared his confidence in God’s presence and guidance.
It is encouraging to know that God has us in His grip from birth to death. Furthermore, we believers have the confident hope of eternal life through Jesus resurrection power.
Though we may have many failures throughout our lives and our strength may leave us, we know that life’s struggles will also eventually leave us and we will live in God’s eternal glory to serve Him forever (see v23-24).
God did not promise us a trouble free life in this world, indeed His word tells us to expect troubles and persecution (JAMES 1:2-3).
So troubles will come to all of us, but God will always make a way for those who put their trust in Him, for those who do not abandon him for harlotry (sexual immorality); those who choose to draw near to Him.
Sadly, many believers today attend church on Sundays, join in the worship, even prophecy in Jesus name; but don’t make time for alone time with Christ.
As a result they never really get to know Him and remain far from Him. They remain on the same roundabout week in, week out, year in year out, and nothing changes; they face the same old troubles; crisis after crisis; poverty, broken marriages, addiction, anxiety, depression, and such things, and their dependency remains in people, the world-money, material things, and status.
Jesus said, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
Matthew 7:22-23 NKJV
Of course Jesus knows everyone, He is the creator, but those people that do not make the time to know Him-to have conversation with Him and build relationship with Him; those who are far from Him, on the day of reckoning, He will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.
If one does not bother to know Christ in this life, He will refuse to know him in the next.
Jesus said, ““I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ ””
Revelation 3:15-22 NKJV
Salvation does not come through acts of religion, it comes by faith and relationship with Christ. He is the Judge who is to decide your eternal future and without Him as your Lord and Saviour, you are guilty as charged.
“For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.””
Romans 10:5-13 NKJV
One cannot truthfully confess Jesus Christ without knowing Him, and the only way to know Him is through relationship.
Relationships are built on quality time spent together with good conversation.
Make time for Jesus-draw near to Him and declare His works and He will be the strength of your heart and your portion forever.
“By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:5-6 NKJV
Sin separates us from God and let’s the devil in; their is no middle ground; without faith, one cannot please God, but through faith alone, you shall live forever with Him; “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.””
Revelation 21:3-4 NKJV
It is too late to be saved by your works; it’s too late do for good deeds, for we have all sinned, and the wages of sin is death. That’s justice!
But Jesus justified your eternal life with Him by paying your debt of sin on a cross and was risen; therefore His grace is sufficient (2 CORINTHIANS 12:9).
“For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,”
Romans 6:5 NKJV
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
James 4:7-10 NKJV
Put your trust in Him-involve Him in every aspect of your life. When you eat, eat with Him-pray a blessing with thanks with your family. Make Him your family and the head of your house. Follow His leadership and your life shall blossom and produce good fruits.
My beloved, regardless of our faults and failures, I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (ROMANS 8:38-39).
Again I tell you, ““Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.
